Tänapäev Publishers was founded in 1999. The main field of activity is publishing books. Tänapäev publishes titles on subjects in the following fields: fiction, history, social and political issues, popular science, reference, biographies, health, children's literature and humour books.

In year 2000 Tänapäev published 45 books, in 2003 about 70 books and in 2011 Tänapäev will publish 125 new titles.

In translated fiction the most prominent series is called "The Red Book", featuring authors like Oscar Wilde, Kurt Vonnegut, Albert Camus, Franz Kafka, Paul Auster, Günter Grass, Ian McEwan, John Irving, Mikhail Bulgakov, Mario Vargas Llosa, Jeanette Winterson and many others. Tänapäev also publishes several popular crime authors such as Boris Akunin, Robert van Gulik, M.C. Beaton and Colin Dexter. The non-fiction list includes many titles on history and politics, both from recent and ancient times.

"My First Book" is a popular series of original Estonian children literature and there is also a separate series for young adult readers. Prominent series also include albums of old postcards and photos of landmarks in Estonia.
